Creating Natural Light Lumia Stabiles and Mobiles using optically reactive materials.
1996 -2014
Experimented with 3D software to build virtual Lumia machines and record Digital Visual Music.
In parallel, continued working with shadow, light, color and motion to create physical compositions, portraits, landscapes and sculptures.
1984 -1995
Experimented with the early commercial applications for digital image creation and production.
1980 - 1984
Produced and performed live Lumia performances at festivals, galleries and planetariums.
1979
Invented and patented the Photon Guitar, an analog live performance visual music instrument.
1978 - 1984
Operated a Lumiagraph studio in Worcester MA. It was a 10’x 12’ x 8’ light tight camera obscura. Compositions using physical optics with various light sources were created and recorded directly onto Cibachrome film. The one off prints were exhibited in the US and UK. They were also sold as commissioned artwork for covers on optical industry publications.
1975
Awarded a grant to create video on the WGBH Paik Abe Synthesizer, titled "Primordial Soup".
1973 - 1978
Created Lumia for performances at Avant Garde Festivals staged around New York City.
1972
Earned a BFA in Experimental Studies from Syracuse University.
